The Ringette Store Skills Award Program is an exciting concept in the area of Ringette skills evaluation and development. A player undergoes the program, which has been divided into five tests. The program provides a basis to which the player, instructors and the coaches, are able to monitor the improvement of the player’s skills.
The results are scored and awarded with ribbons designed and provided by the Ringette Store, through the Ontario Ringette Office. Over time, this same player goes through the program again and has a chance to compare his/her scores from the previous attempt. Then the player is awarded for the progress they have achieved.
The program is not designed to compare results between players - the player has a chance to see their own progress and get awarded for this progress throughout the season.
Coaches and the player, have a chance to identify skill levels and also identify where the emphasis should lie in terms of future instruction and coaching.
The program can be Fun and it can be Challenging. Specific tests are indicated for the goaltender as well as the defense and forward players. A cross section of skills including skating and ring handling are used.
Try this program for team selections or for a Fun Day with the players and their parents. Remember the KEY to this program, is that the player’s results are compared and scored with their own subsequent attempts. And are awarded on the basis of the players progress. This is not a skills award program to award the best players on the team. Everyone is a winner with this program.
Samples of certificates are available at the back of the booklet.
The beautiful and specially designed Ringette Store ribbons are available also at the ORA office.
This program has been brought to you by the Ringette Store and the ORA Athlete Development Committee
