Leadership Camp Information

This Will Be An Off-Ice Camp For Ringette Players Who Share An Interest In Furthering Their Learning Strategies And Activities To Be Taken Back To Their Teams That Will Improve Communication, Cooperation And Team Unity And Allow The Participants To Be Better Team Leaders In The Future.

Participants Will Be Divided Into “Home Groups” Of 6 Or 7. Two Skill-Builders Will Be Designated To Each Group.

  • These Home Groups Would Work Through Leadership Building Exercises Together.
  • Cabin Assignments Would Be Different From Home Groups In Order To Encourage The Participants To Be In Contact With As Many Of Their Fellow Athletes As Possible Over The Weekend.

All Home Groups Will Come Together For Whole-Camp Sessions Where All Of The Athletes Will Build Their Capacity Together. These Sessions Will Be Facilitated By The Apprentices. This Camp Gives Participants The Opportunity To Discuss Some Of The Key Values, Goals, And Benefits Of Ringette, Particularly Skills That Can Be Taken Away From The Game And Applied Off Of The Ice.

SKILL-BUILDERS

Skill-Builders Will Be Selected Based On Their Previous Leadership Experience. Applicants Should Be In Their Second- Or Third-Year Of The U19 Program. These Leaders Will Guide Their Groups Through The Weekend’s Activities. These Athletes Will Broaden Their Skill-Sets By Taking On Responsibilities Such As: Facilitating Small- And Whole-Group Sessions, Ensuring That Groups Adhere To The Event Schedule And Expectations, And Maintaining A Positive Environment In Which Participants Can Learn And Grow.

APPRENTICES

Apprentices Are Participants Who Have Attended Our Camp For At Least 2 Years But Who Are Not Old Enough And/Or Aren’t Quite Ready For The Responsibilities Of Being A Skill-Builder. Apprentices Will Help To Facilitate A Few Of The Big Group Sessions At Camp, Including Organizing And Implementing Our Saturday Evening Programming. The Role Of The Apprentice Is Intended To Give Participants An Opportunity To Take On More Of A Leadership Role Within The Camp Context.
