Name: Lindsey Vivian Age: 17 Position: Centre Number: 9 Association: Mitchell Sponsors: Clarica Financial Services Inc. Ken Nesbitt -- Financial Centre Manger Experience: I am proud to say that my ringette career started with the Mitchell Ringette Association. After developing most of my skills in my hometown, my love for the sport grew, so I decided to tryout for the Huron Perth Petite AA team. The competitiveness of that team inspired me to continue playing at an elite level. This year (2003-2004) I am also playing for the Kitchener Belle AA team and it will be my seventh year playing AA. With this I have experienced many of the most memorable moments of my life. When I played for four years in Forest, we won bronze at provincials twice. Last year I was part of the Waterloo Belle AA team and we finished our season as provincial silver medallists, as well as national bronze medallists. Most Memorable Ringette Experience: Ringette has been a major part of my life for many years. This awesome sport has offered me so many opportunities and has left many memorable moments to look back on. It is hard to settle on just one experience because this sport has many that I will never forget. Most of all, ringette offers me friendships that will last a lifetime. However, last year when I played for the Waterloo Belles, I had the honour of playing ringette at the highest level I have ever played at. We accomplished more than many thought we could. We surprised a lot of teams at provincials and ended up playing for gold. It has always been a dream of mine to become "Team Ontario" and we were so close we could taste it. However, we finished as proud silver medallists. Considering the provincials of 2003 were held in Waterloo we received a bye to the National Championship, where I participated in the best Ringette I have ever played. The games were intense, high-paced and fun to watch. We were known as the underdogs but showed our potential as we finished a well-deserved bronze. I hope this year will offer just as many opportunities. I am very excited to be a part of this Western Region AAA Team and I look forward to the competition ahead. |
