PLAYER RECRUITMENT POLICY

As stated in the Corporate Minutes of the September 11-13, 1998 Board of Directors Meeting sent to each Association, the following Motion was ratified as D3-98-27:

Tryout/Release Guidelines

These guidelines have been developed for associations when forming teams at the beginning of each season. The intent is to allow associations to form teams at the levels they wish without concern for interference, intentional or otherwise, from any other associations. Recruitment of players, which is defined as direct contact of players without their association’s knowledge and approval, will not be tolerated.

  1. Contact must always be at the level of Association President to Association President to determine if specific players may be available to another association.

  2. No members of any association intending to develop a team at a specific age level and caliber may directly contact players from another association which has indicated its intention to field a team at the same age level and caliber. Deadlines and methods of communication of team levels to be established on a Regional basis.

  3. No players may be allowed on tryout ice of an association other than their local association without submitting a "Tryout/Release Form" (as outlined in the Application for Player/Release Procedures in the Membership Services Section of the Operating Manual).

These guidelines have been in full effect since the above Board Meeting and will be added to the Operating Manual, Membership Services, Player Tryout/Release Section when the Manual is next updated.
