Officiating Registration

September 2005

Beginning with the 2005/2006 season all officials must register with the ORA via form O-F-05. The information will be stored in a database separate from the general ORA membership database.

To create this new Official’s Database anyone who is or was an official was removed from the general ORA membership database – even if they were also players, coaches etc. Data for anyone who is an official will be missing from all data disks sent to Associations in the August membership mailing.

The following information is to assist Association Registrars with the new procedures.

If the person is only an official - the Association registrar will do nothing with respect to recording the registration in the ORA membership database.

Officials have been given the following information with respect to registration: (taken from the ORA Officiating Web site – please refer to the site for complete details)

Starting this season, each official must fill out a registration form and choose one of the following two methods of submittal.

  1. mail it in to ORA office. Once you receive verification of payment, you are considered registered.

  2. Fill out the form and submit it to your local association registrar. The method of payment will be Fill out the registration form, enclose a cheque for the appropriate fee and determined by the local association. The local association will send the form and payment to ORA office. Once the office receives the appropriate form and fee you will be considered registered.

If the member is a coach, player or anything else PLUS an official - the Association Registrar will register them in the ORA membership database in all capacities EXCEPT referee AND the member will fill out a form O-F-05 to be submitted to the ORA office as per the guidelines. A new record will have to be created for these members (as their data was removed from the data disks sent out in August). Even if they have been a member of your Association for many years, they will need to be entered as a new registrant. The option to select referee may still be available in the drop down menu, but should NEVER be selected. When the Registrar’s Summary Report is prepared you should not have any referees.

Questions concerning the new procedures may be directed towards Membership Services Committee members.
